The NHS Robotics Team–Team 2556 Radioactive Roaches– spent Wednesday through Saturday hanging out, competing with and competing against 61 other robotic teams from the southeast US, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic.
The NHS robot was one of the strongest on the field and the team worked tirelessly, but did not make it into the final tournament. However, because of some groundbreaking work the team is doing with Google Glasses, their work with all the local middle school FLL teams, and the team’s spirit, they were honored with the Judges’ Award.
According to the write up that was given at the award ceremony:
“During the course of the competition, the judging panel encounters teams whose unique efforts, performance, or dynamics merit recognition yet do not fit into any of the existing award categories. Today, the judges have defined the following special award as a Judges’ Award for one such deserving team. This team is being recognized today for their visionary efforts across their machine, team skills, spirit, and outreach efforts. From utilizing Google glasses into their driver system, to a noticeably gross but cool mascot, to SWAG that is as valuable as plutonium, the Judges overwhelmingly wished to recognize this team for their amazing growth and team energy as powerful as nuclear power!”
Congratulations: Team 2556, Radioactive Roaches
