ACCREDITATION
Niceville High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. We were awarded national recognition through two U.S. Department of Education programs:

  1. Rated as an A+ school by the State of Florida Department of Education for 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007, 2008.
  2. Five Star School Award 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008.
  3. Selected in 1996 as one of 226 secondary schools (private and public) nationwide designated as Blue Ribbon National School of Excellence.
  4. Selected in 1999 as one of 13 schools designated nationwide as New American High School Showcase Sites.

 

COMMUNITY
Niceville is a residential community located in the panhandle of Florida near the Gulf of Mexico. It is home to Eglin Air Force Base as well as numerous small businesses and industries including fishing, textiles, and government-related contract work. The average income and educational level is well above the national norm.

GPA / CLASS RANK:
Rank in class is based on all courses; all students included. The GPA is based on a 4.0 scale with an extra 1.0 quality point awarded for Advanced Placement, AICE, Advanced Level II, gifted studies and dual enrollment courses.  Honors courses will receive a .5 extra quality point.

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT, AICE AND HONORS CURRICULUM:
Twenty-three Advanced Placement and ten AICE courses are offered in the areas of English, mathematics, science, social studies, foreign language, physical education and other electives totaling over 114 weighted honors, gifted and advanced-level courses throughout the curriculum.  Dual enrollment courses are offered through an articulation agreement with the local college.  All courses are available to any student willing to accept the challenge.

B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60- 69
F = 59 and below

 

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Twenty four credits (as shown below) are required for a high school diploma in Florida.
Each class receives ½ credit per semester.
