The May Senior Newsletter is available on the NHS website. This is a very important newsletter as it contains all information concerning your final days as a senior and all graduation information for you and your guests at the graduation ceremony. Many of you have not read even one newsletter this year. This is the newsletter everyone MUST read!
SENIOR DAY ACTIVITIES
The excitement of graduation activities will begin for all seniors on Senior Day. Senior Day will be Friday, May 30th beginning at 6:45 a.m. Seniors will gather in the front parking lot by 6:45 a.m. At 7:00 a.m., Mr. Nobles and retiring staff members will lead the Class of 2014 through the halls of Niceville High School for their final senior walk. After the walk, the seniors will proceed to the NHS cafeteria to receive their cap and gown package. Seniors who have purchased tickets for the Senior Breakfast will proceed to First Baptist Church after receiving their cap and gown. The Senior Awards Ceremony will follow the Senior Breakfast at 10:00 a.m. in the NHS auditorium.
SAVE THE DATE! SENIOR AWARDS CEREMONY
The Niceville High School Senior Awards Ceremony will be held Senior Day, Friday, May 30th at 10:00 a.m. in the Niceville High School auditorium. Seniors will be recognized for Community Scholarships, Service Academy Appointments, ROTC Scholarships, National Merit Scholarships, local University Scholarships, and Florida Bright Futures Scholarships (7th semester candidates). Summa, Magna, Cum Laude seniors will be presented with their honors sashes and honors tassels during the ceremony. Family and friends are welcome to attend. Parent invitations will be sent home with seniors being recognized during the ceremony during next week’s SOAR.
CLASS OF 2014 BACCALAUREATE CEREMONY
Sr. SOAR Advisors: Please give each senior in your SOAR a Baccalaureate card.
The Class of 2014 Baccalaureate Ceremony will be held Tuesday, June 3, 7:00 p.m. All seniors and their family and friends are invited to attend this inspirational ceremony. Attendance is optional for this ceremony, but seniors who attend must be in full graduation attire. The dress code can be found in the May Senior Newsletter. The Baccalaureate Ceremony is sponsored by The Twin Cities Ministerial Association in collaboration with the Niceville High School Class of 2014 seniors. Baccalaureate cards to be included with your graduation announcements are available from Mrs. Campbell.
ONLINE COURSE COMPLETION DATE FOR SENIORS
Seniors taking online classes should plan on completing their online course by the week of senior exams (May 23rd – May 29th). Your online instructor will need time to grade your exam and submit your final grade. This can take multiple days from the time you take your final exam. If you are taking an online class, please make an appointment with your counselor to discuss your progress and confirm you are on track for graduation.
FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUEST/FUTURE PLANS FORM
Once you have made your final decision for your future plans and/or the college you will attend, please complete the FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUEST/FUTURE PLANS FORM and return to Mrs. Rankin in the Guidance Office. The Okaloosa County School District requires seniors to complete this form. Also, a final transcript must be sent to the college/university you plan to attend this summer and/or fall. The deadline to return your forms to Mrs. Rankin was Friday, May 2nd.
